1. Academic Internships
An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student’s field of study or career interest. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, as well as the chance to learn new skills. It offers the employer the opportunity to bring new ideas and energy into the workplace, develop talent and potentially build a pipeline for future full-time employees. A quality internship:

  • Consists of a part-time or full-time work schedule that includes no more than 20% clerical or administrative duties.
  • Provides a clear job/project description for the work experience.
  • Orients the student to the organization, its culture and proposed work assignment(s).
  • Helps the student develop and achieve learning goals.
  • Offers regular feedback to the student intern.
  • May be paid or unpaid

2. Service Learning
Service learning is a teaching method that promotes student learning through active participation in meaningful and planned service experiences based on community needs that are substantively related to course content and other student learning objectives.

Thank you for your interest in partnering with duPont Manual High School’s MST Catalysts. The MST Catalysts are the parent organization for the MST Magnet Program at duPont Manual. Our mission is to support the MST community at Manual and to enhance the educational experience of our students.  In carrying out this mission, we strive to connect MST students with for-profit and non-profit organizations in our community that could benefit from student involvement in their organizations while also offering students the opportunity to explore extracurricular interests, develop new skills, and expand their connection and contribution to the community.

We look forward to exploring a potential partnership with your organization. This form will initiate the process for us to learn more about your organization and the off-campus learning opportunities that you would like to make available to duPont Manual MST students. Ideally, a representative of your organization who is familiar with the learning activities in which student interns will be engaged, as well as your safety policies and procedures, should complete this form. Once your interest form has been received, our Outreach Coordinator will contact you and facilitate the posting of your opportunity on the MST Catalysts website.
